Maison Shakti

A redesign concept for a sound-healing studio in Ottawa, rebuilt around one question: how few taps between landing on the page and holding a session. Editorial layout on top, booking-first architecture underneath.

The brief we set

  • Booking is the product, design the site around it
  • Read like a magazine, behave like a front desk
  • Price and duration visible before anyone commits
  • Assume the visitor is on a phone, mid-week, deciding fast

What we changed

  • Persistent book action, present at every scroll depth
  • Sessions as editorial spreads, not a price list
  • Calm type scale: one display face, generous line height
  • Practitioner and room photography given full width

The system

  • Booking engine embedded, not linked out to a third-party page
  • Session pages share one layout, so a new offering costs minutes
  • Intake questions collected at booking, not at the door
  • Ships in fourteen days from sign-off

Why it matters

  • Wellness sites are often beautiful and unbookable
  • Every extra tap is a reason to close the tab
  • Calm is a layout decision, not a colour
  • The front desk should never be the bottleneck

Booking-first. Every page terminates in an available time, not a contact form
Display
One display face at large scale, serif italic reserved for the brand word
Palette
Paper ground, ink type, a single accent held back for the booking action
Layout
Editorial spreads for sessions: image, method, duration, price, in that order
Motion
Scroll-triggered reveals only. Nothing moves while the visitor is reading
Performance
Static HTML, inlined critical CSS, posters on every video. Sub-second first paint
Ship time
Fourteen days from sign-off to live
